Hey, I'm new to ubuntu. Just partially installed ubuntu 10.10 onto my netbook. I had made a partition for ubuntu-10.10-alternate-i386 but I could not get it to run from my thumb drive. I used wubi to install instead with 10GB of space unused from my WinXp Os, so I still have 40+GB of unallocated space. Is there a way to merge that space into my ubuntu?

Hi, Welcome to the forum. If you have room on hard drive (my old netbook has a 16GiB) SSD may I suggest you install Ubuntu into it's own partition rather than using Wubi?
If so, you'll want to use the Ubuntu 11.04-Desktop-32.iso, or if you want a more stable version, use 10.10 or 10.04 LTS. The alternate version has no Desktop GUI included.
