Hey everyone I have a HP Pavillion Slimline Desktop and I cannot seem to install ubuntu 11.04 on it...every time I try I get a black screen with lines of text scrolling by to fast for me to read what it says, then a plain black screen with a gray box in the middle....and then nothing until I turn off the computer and try again...any suggestions on what the problem might be?

So what doesn't work: booting off the LiveCD, or installing?
Does 10.10 or 10.04 work?
What happens when you turn off options in the boot screen (press F6, I believe), assuming you can reach the initial boot screen.
Can you make a Live-USB-stick on another computer and boot from that?

Installing is what doesn't work. And when I turn off both options in the boot screen the same thing happens as when I don't. And I was just about to try 10.04. And no I can't unfortunately make a live-USB stick on another computer... :P
