I was reading the community documentation with a terminal open and pasting different commands in. I was in home directory and entered ls command to see what was in there. then i entered cd- and the output was (bash: cd: OLDPWD not set) What did i do wrong and what does this output mean? Thanks for any help or advice.

cd -
is the equivalent of pressing Back in Windows Explorer: it will get you to your previously visited folder. If you haven't visited any, then it will give you this message.

For a good introduction to the command line:

Thanks for clarifying and the link ! That's kinda what I thought. If I had navigated through 2 or 3 directories cd - would take me back to previous. which i hadn't done at the time. but the output of ( OLDPWD not set ) threw me off. thought i would start in a directory and look around then move to next, to learn my way around. Much thanks!
