Partially installed ubuntu, need to unistall?

I have searched and cant find an exact answer to my specific issue. I was installing ubuntu from the livecd onto a brand new hd. During the installation it failed to install (my fault the disc was pretty scratched). My question is, do i need to wipe the hd clean before trying a new copy of ubuntu or can i just put in the new disc and let it boot and reinstall.

i am new to ubuntu switching over from windows.

HI, welcome to the fora.

If you choose 'use entire hard drive for Ubuntu' during installation, it will be formatted automatically.

Remember to have wired internet access while installing.

If you are just installing ubuntu then booting with the newly burnt disc and telling it to use the whole disk (I assume you did this before) will do exactly that.

The aborted install will be formatted and it will start again.

Thanks! I didnt partition as i am using only ubuntu, im over windows. I just wanted to be sure as i just purchased the new HD yesterday. Thanks again, and i will be installing the newly burnt cd soon. Im sure this will not be my last post to the forums.

I would also make sure that the download is good before I burnt it.

Then verify the burn when you boot the disc.

Yea, i read that after the first install messed up and i did a search. Good info there!
