Hello!

I am not aware a lot of installations and I have used this tutorial step by step
http://www.tech2go.in/2011/05/how-to-install-ubuntu-11-04-inside-windows-without-cd-or-usb-flash-drive.html
But when restarting and choosing Ubuntu OS, it stops with the purple screen and all dots lighted yellow and can not reboot.
I am sorry once again I have no experience with installations but I will appreciate any help and suggestions.
Thank you.

are you trying to install inside windows?

which problem are you facing:

a)booting into ubuntu doesnt work after you reboot, so you havent been able to use ubuntu.

b)ubuntu works fine, but it wont allow you to reboot.

c) something else (describe in detail)

please let us know

ps. have you tried a live-cd or live-usb to try ubuntu?

Thanks for your willingness to help;

I am trying to install inside windows, exactly as the manual says:

http://www.tech2go.in/2011/05/how-to-install-ubuntu-11-04-inside-windows-without-cd-or-usb-flash-drive.html

And it is all ok, installation inside windows is finished, I chose to restart my computer.
I choose Ubuntu as an OS and wait for the installation to reboot and get completed.
At this point the installation stops, just shows the ubuntu screen and stops, installation process of ubuntu can not complete and it is not working at all;
I did the same installation process with Windows XP on another computer and it was working fine and I am using ubuntu there.
But on this computer with Windows7 the installation can not complete.

Thank you, if you want to know more, please ask

depending on various reasons the installation could be hanging. Since is not a real install, but a virtual install inside windows. Could be a problem with windows and the virtual filesystem.

also virtual installs are usually slower than real installs.

You should try defraging your windows and checking for spyware, etc. Then try a few more times.

else, it would be faster to just try a live-cd/usb and see how well it works with your hardware. And a real install is usually better and safer.

if anything happens to windows, your ubuntu virtual install also suffers, but with a real install to its own partition space, you are secured.

if you need more help let us know :)

Hello,

I tried this
UNetbootin : http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

to create a bootable Live USB drive, following the insturctions.
I also did formating the drive D: , which I had used for Ubuntu partition.
But I had no luck, it is the same, the installation stops at Ubuntu start screen and does not reboot and finish.
I am really surprised what actually happens.
Thank you.

Hi, Welcome to the forums.

What Release Ubuntu are you installing?, 11.04?
Have you chosen 'try without installing..'? at the unetbootin startup screen?

what are your computer specs ?

and have you tried a previous version of ubuntu (10.04 or 10.10) and see if you're having the same problem.
