View Full Version : [SOLVED] Can two users have the same Thunderbird address?
August 26th, 2011, 02:39 PM
My new xubuntu OS is set up for two users - My questions -
Can the two users share the same Thunderbird address? - ie - Can the second user set up a second Thunderbird account using the same settings?
I would tend to think this couldn't be done but I would like it confirmed.
Thank you - :)

Try it and see how far you get?
Am thinking the only issue will be about choosing the right connection method so both users get all the emails up on the server (you will have to tell the mail server to retain all emails and use IMAP as connection method so that both accounts sync) There may be a problem with each user seeing the emails they each of them has sent.
Would probably be easier to run two seperate addresses but to set up the mail server to forward everything to the other account if that is what you are after.

Thanks for your input Jose Catre-Vandis,
It would only be myself using the second account - I wanted the convenience of logging on to emails when I was logged on as second user.
As you say - I may try it to see what happens. - :P

I see no reason why this wouldn't work. The thunderbird settings for each user are separate, for obvious reasons, so TB shouldn't even realize both have the same address.
