Hi I want to be able to write a script that uses windows for contol and reporting, rather than the command line. what do people recommend?
(I'm looking for an ubuntu version of Kixstart really)

Script as in shell script? Or would you consider Python scripting? If so, you can use the Qt bindings for Python.

EDIT: Apparently I'm blind-- I didn't read the title, I'm sorry. Yes, script as in bash script. My answer isn't so helpful.
