View Full Version : [ubuntu] Change Desktop Icon Sizes?

Using Ubuntu 11.04.

I am trying to figure out how to change the default desktop (and folder for that matter) Icon sizes...

They are way to big on a 1280x800 screen resolution.

I know I can change the individual sizes for each icon, but I'm not about to do that for every icon that appears anywhere...

There's got to be a default setting somewhere that I can edit...

I had this happen when the drivers were not correct for my monitor. The icons would be too large for me. Not sure if this is the same issue you are having but it seems like the icons should resize based on the screen resolution if the drivers are correct.

Is there no setting to change all icon sizes by default? If you can change each icon individually... how is it possible that there isn't one for all of them??

I know this helped the OP, but who are the people who write these howtos? Or is it that they're just tired?

According to that link, this is how to open a nautilus window:
Press Alt + F2 in your desktop, type /usr/bin/nautilus in text area and press Run. It will be loaded.

Good grief! The words sledgehammer and nut come to mind.
