View Full Version : [xubuntu] Need to reset volume settings

August 24th, 2011, 05:35 PM
Hi all,

Yesterday when i tried to turn down the volume of my laptop, nothing happened while i was running firefox fullscreen (don't know if that matters).
When i switched out of fullscreen i could change the volume again. The weird thing is, ever since, when i fully turn down the volume it is still playing softly,
so somehow the hardwares volume doesn't match with what the software shows.
Even weirder, I when i try the same method backwards (going fullscreen in firefox and turning up the volume) the volume does change, so i can't use that to reset.

I've been trying to get it back by using amixer and alsamixer but that doesn't work (though i can mute the sound, i still cant turn the volume so low that i
don't hear anything and i'm pretty sure my hearing didn't suddenly improve).
So, if anyone knows a way to make the software volume match the volume of my sound card again i'd be very grateful.

btw, I'm using the xfce4-volumed plugin (don't know if that matters either)
