Hi! I am looking for a video-editing-software for our amateur theatre group. we are going to record all our future representations with 2 camcorders and now we would like to merge them into 1 video. sadly, i have not much experience in this field (i used avidemux) and i am not exactly sure how to do this. first the videos have to be synchronised with the audio and then i would like to just mark the (time) points when the video should be used from one or the other camera...

i really appreciate any help.

p.s. it would be great if the software worked with windows as well, as i am sure that i can not convince my other two colleagues to use linux...and they might have to fill in for me sometimes. otherwise i fancy cinelerra, though i have never tried it. i understand there is no windows port for it?

One piece of open-source software to keep an eye on is Lightworks (http://www.lightworksbeta.com/). Unfortunately, it only runs on Windows right now. But there are plans to expand the project (http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=news_item&px=ODc2OA) to Linux distributions and Mac OS X. Lightworks doesn't work well (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=23956) under Wine according to the website. If you have a Windows machine, you might just want to install Lightworks so that the three video editors will have a consistent application to work with.

Thank you, LMP900. I have heard of Lightworks, but considered it a overkill. Now that there seem to be not much of a choice, i will report back after giving it a try.
