Do you like the name "Ubuntu Software Center"?

It's original. Apple and Google and Amazon and etc. all have the word "app" in their packaging center's name.

Tells you exactly what it is, so I am fine with it. I just call it "Software Center" for short though.

Google doesn't, there it's the "Android Market" or the "Chrome Web Store".

But anyway, it's a good descriptive name. No reason to change it.

You should have seen the flap when they originally tried to call it "Ubuntu Software Store".

Whoops. Forgot about that. I was thinking about Amazon and Apple.

I still vote to keep the name. Although just "Software Center" would cut it for me.

Need a 3rd option for "don't care", which is what I would vote.

Why not? It tells you exactly what it is and sounds a lot better than "app store". BTW, I don't use it anyway, I prefer Synaptic.

OK - Shame about the spelling of centre though!

What are you talking about? English spellings look weird in my opinion (most of them anyway). "Centre" looks like it should be pronounced like "sentry." BTW, I say keep it. It's a lot better than KPackageKit (I use Muon though).

On a system set to any English except US English it will say centre, although the package name is spelt the incorrect (ie: American) way.

I think the program is decent overall. I would really like to see it have the ability to download while other packages are installing. :)

What is the language of this forum anyway? Is it US English or UK English?

You mean while another process (apt-get or Synaptic) is busy installing or do you mean download the next application you want installed while busy installing the first? (Well, come to think about it, both would be nice) :)

Yes, at the moment I think dpkg/apt "locks" on any action to do with package management. It would be neat if aptd or whatever software centre uses as a backend could 'queue' where only the installations would lock each other, not the downloads.
