Ive tried searching a few different times with different terms in the past, since joining ubuntu community.. what i've found doesnt seem like what i was looking for.. i wish i had the one page im thinking of, but i couldnt find it again for reference, so i could just ask if thats really the process i want.

what im trying to do, or know if is possible, is how to build maybe a custom installation?

what im really trying to accomplish, is to skip (most of) the upgrading process after i install 11.04. upgrading to gnome-shell takes quite a bit of time; i wouldnt mind using a larger memory stick, if could just skip most of the downloading part each time I install on one of my systems.

another question semi related.. is ubuntu server pretty much just the exact same thing as one of the ubuntu builds, just with different packages being installed?

Hi I am trying to do the same as you, did you get all the customization (such as automatically choosing locale, partition etc so that the installer dont have to type anything) done by following that website? I am not able to, even with custom ubuntu.seed
