I'm posting this from Oneiric, and I really do not like the way Unity is progressing. It's feeling more cluttered and less useful compared to Natty.

Let us hope they get the balance right before release...

THIS is why I check my screencaps before posting. (I don't torrent, but still.) I don't think Shuttleworth would make that mistake either.

Window control buttons in the upper left? Works for me, as long as the controls are also in the window itself.

On that note, there's still an issue with global menus. As someone else pointed out, if you have two windows side-by-side, to get to the menu for an out-of-focus window, you must first waste a click bringing it into focus, and then move your mouse to the top. That, and GIMP suffers as a result of the global menu paradigm.

My above posts sum up my opinions when it comes to the menus and other usability issues. Simplistic and nitpickish they may be, but I still think they're valid.

Wow! That looks awesome. I would give Oneiric my other partition with it would not be taken by Arch! :D

so far so good.

EDIT: I hate the BFB. It should go back on the top panel.

Intriguing. I may have to give Unity another chance.

I'm still waiting till the next LTS.

I'm just glad to see Unity changing, it means there's still time for it to improve.

I actually like the Unity desktop interface. I haven't tried the new KDE desktop environment, but I have never liked KDE ever. I am just one of those guys I guess.

Me too. Not sure that I like the shots I've seen so far from Oneiric, but I understand it's a work in progress, and the fact is that before I installed Natty I didn't even like the screen shots I'd seen of Unity up to that point.

Funny how things go. I really liked KDE 3.5 and I wasn't at all excited about KDE 4, and I put off trying it for a long time. Now I wouldn't even consider using KDE 3.5 (if it was available) instead of KDE 4.

I can see myself maybe ending up feeling the same way about Unity or GNOME Shell vs. the "classic" GNOME.
