Hi all,

I have THE perfect Ubuntu11.04 on my current machine.

One problem: it is starting to have major hardware issues.

Can I move my perfect ubuntu setup onto a new machine? Or am I forced to do a fresh install?

Thanks

Heeter

I did that this week! I built a new computer after the motherboard on the old one died. The original system drive was fine though, so I just plugged it into the new system and booted it up. Ubuntu Natty booted just fine, did a few updates and it hummed along. I was stunned at how easy it was (but happy too!).

If your system drive is healthy, just go ahead and use it on your new computer. It can't hurt to try it, and it likely will work just fine.

Thanks for that.

Was wondering about that, just throwing the drive into the new setup.

Will try that.

Thanks again,

Heeter
