I cant get it to install too.
Also, I have another problem.
When I try to go to the cinefx official website, I dunno,
Nothing happens. Its just written "Connecting to www.cinefx.org"
And a white blank page.
I dunno why this is happening............
Could someone please go to that website to check?

I get this after a few minutes....
The connection has timed out
The server at www.cinefx.org is taking too long to respond.
The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few
moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer's network
connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure
that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

Hmmm... the CINEFX web site appears to be down at the moment. I suggest you sit back and wait for a while and then try again.

.....they gave you a link to d/l the software - or I assume it is the same although it is called 'cineplay'
it is source code so you'd need to compile yourself but that is not a big deal.
this is the link once again as the cinefx.org web site still seems to be down..

Jahshaka is too old to get it installed. It uses outdated dependencies.
Are you searching specific effects from CineFX or just an editor with a lot of effects ? Blender and Cinelerra are powerful for that. Nearly all properties are keyframable.

There is no alternative for After Effects.. nothing comes close.
For video-editing I recommend Kdenlive (http://www.kdenlive.org/). (or Cinelerra)
You may also be interested in Blender (http://www.blender.org/).

Well I would have to disagree and say there is absolutely an alternative for AEs for Linux and one equally just as powerful, however.... Unfortunately it's not a free alternative but then again... neither is AEs.
And "Blender" while an excellent program... it's an open source 3d program most similar to Autodesk's "Maya" but it's not a compositing program like AEs is.
For compositing on Linux check out "The Foundry's - Nuke" (the creators of the famed "Camera Tracker" plugin for AEs)
http://www.thefoundry.co.uk/products/nuke/
Nuke has powerful additional plugins available just like AEs does, such as Redgiant's Trapcode Particular, Genarts Sapphire, and Genarts Monster to name a few.
Nuke is a little different though than AEs in the fact that it's a "Node Based Compositor" rather than AEs being a "Layer Based Compositor" but again Nuke is most definitely just as powerful as AEs is, once you get familiar with it of-course (I'd even say it's more powerful than AEs due to it's native 3d capabilities).
Here are a few movies you have more than likely seen and which Nuke has been used on: Harry Potter, Armageddon, Mission Impossible, Avatar, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, King Kong, Jumper, I Robot, Resident Evil: Extinction, Tron: Legacy, Black Swan... and the list goes on.
That list alone should give you an at a glance idea of the caliber of Nuke
Happy Compositing :D
