I was browsing the interwebs when I came across a similar thread elsewhere.

Simply tell us the funniest or most creative WiFi network names you've found.
Or perhaps if your feeling a little creative yourself, make one up.

The most creative I've ever seen? NETGEAR :D

A while ago, when I had wifi, I called my network drugs-n-guns-incand also used hack-me-m*****f*****! But I didn't keep that up for long, kinda an open invitation for trouble I thought!

I like to send little messages to our neighbours

Have-a-nice-cup-of-tea

that kind of thing. They all just have bt-lotsanumbers or SKYLONGINT or similar.

A friend of mine set his SSID to "NETGEAR" on his Avaya access point. I thought that was cute.

Mine is generally "Unimatrix001". Resistance is futile.

The Wi-fi at an area bar is "DrunkComputer".

After setting it up, for two weeks or so all the other neighboring other wifi networks disappeared, then slowly started reappearing.

My network is D9UB5. I really need to change it off WEP :(

My network had an intrusion when it was on WEP. Change it off WEP right now, as soon as you read this. Don't assume that nobody in your neighbourhood is savvy enough to download a script to obtain your WEP key.

I named my network "Mozart" after this guy who, if memory serves, had something to do with some musical project a while back.

This one "MotherInlawsVirusInfestedNetwork".

Most of my neighbors use AT&T DSL. Their routers SSIDs are 2WIREXXX, were XXX is a three digit number, how creative. One of my neighbors was savvy enough to change his to NASCAR, I wounder what his interests are (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing -- NASCAR).

Mine are "First Floor" and "Second Floor". My house is big enough that I need two wireless access points. Many years ago, before I started using wireless devices all throughout the house, the single access point was "Home Workgroup" named after the Microsoft Windows Network default name at the time.

I've thought about naming one NSA_HoneyPot or CIA_HoneyPot :).

Hmm. My line of thought was that since there are open networks relatively close to me, people would go for those instead. I'll take your advice though. Thank you.

My friend has an open network. He doesn't have to worry about it at all. He lives out in the sticks, and his driveway is long enough that people would have to be halfway up it just to find any signal.

Sadly I once had an SSID of joinmynetworktogethacked or something around those lines. I thought fear was working for me back then - It might have I never once got hacked while living in a high rise.

I named my mother in-laws network "MotherInlawsVirusInfestedNetwork" not to scare anyone off. I was just warning them to know about the truth. If they did hack into the network then they needed to know what they were exposing themselves to. My mother in-law didn't understand computers and let my brothers and sisters in-law download porn, music, and who knows what to her computer. Her computer was always infected with something. Her children were more of a threat than anyone hacking her wireless.

I can't really translate the idiom, but it's a way of telling my neighbors that a) i won't share it, and b) it's not easy to crack.
