GPU accelerated video transcoding on Ubuntu?

Is there any such app for Ubuntu?
In case there isn't, which one would you recommend for Window$ ?

I remember reading something on this not to long ago, but it was when I was looking up information on boosting cluster server performance.
I think there is a kernel module or something for that. Have you tried googling?

Aha, google only shows info about window$. I thought some people here might have some up to date knowledge about the state of gpu transcoding on Ubuntu.
