UBUNTU 11.04 - compaq presario cq62 230EI Installation

Hello

Am totally new to linux.
Am currently trying to install Ubuntu 11.04 on my Compaq presario cq62 230EI but it is taking over 4hrs!!! I created partitions on my hard-drive, selected ext4 journalling file system for the designated root partition on where i directed the system to install the OS.

Everything went on well until it stuck at a point
"creating ext4 filesystem for/ in partition #1 of SCSI1(0,0,0) (sda)..."

it has stuck at this point for more yhan 2hrs?????

Can someone help me out pleeease!

I seem to remember having a similar problem a while back. If I remember correctly I ended up downloading the alternate install disk and using it. It worked great from there.

My issue ended up being a problem with software RAID. I was able to get it working with the alternate. To be honest I didn't dig much deeper than that. I know this isn't an answer but it may point you in the right direction???
