Creating a backup image

I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 x64 and I installed a 110GB SSD a few months back. It was totally worth the money, but it is nowhere near enough space. I want to install a new SSD but I don't want to go through the setup. Is there anyway to create an image of your entire disk and then load it at time of install so it's a seamless transition?

could you use an external storage device to store your data on? if so then clonezilla (http://clonezilla.org/) may be what you want.

Thanks, that's perfect! I have a TB external drive that I can back everything up to.
