how to update UNTIY

hi guys i downloaded the latest unity update :) , but i don't know how to update that . after downloaded i got only one folder with some stuff . I'm newbie don't know much abut these installation please explain me in bit clear way .

but where and how did you downoad it?

in general one uses the update mechanism, or installs from synaptics or so.
What format has the update? .deb?
