Hello,

I just installed emacs and the problem is it will only start in conslole mode... I want it to open like a normal program and not in consloe. What do I do ?? ](*,)

hmm, well, by default emacs should start in gui mode... only if you start it with commandline switch "-nw" it starts in console mode. so... check to see maybe your shortcut happens to have a -nw switch? or maybe you have an alias with -nw?

did you install emacs from the repositories? try uninstall with purge, and then reinstall?

I thought that the package "emacs21" was a command-line program and "xemacs21" was the gui version.
