Hi,

I am using Ubuntu 11.04 on an AMD64 computer. Recently I realized that the disk is more active than before. Even the temperature of the disk has increased. (Added a new fan!) When I use System Monitor to check which software is using the memory I found out that three programs, unity-window-decorator 530MB, compiz 120MB, unity-panel-service 242MB are using most of the 2GB memory. Also, they are mostly sleeping with pool_schedule_timeout message given in the Waiting Channel column of the System Monitor output. I use Banshee to listen to a web radio and Google Chrome for web surfing.

Why is there so much memory use and activity on the disk?

After I sent this message I restarted my computer and checked the memory usage of the above three software. They were all 5 -7 MB. It looks like memory usage increases with the on time of the computer.

Best Regards
