Hi Alex,

I got my WiFi working in V6500 with these instructions

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/Driver/bcm43xx#b43%20-%20No%20Internet%20access

I guess the wifi hardware in V6000 is the same, but I am not sure :)

I'd suggest booting from the liveCD and giving this HOWTO: a try.
If it works do the same thing on your system.

Just stick with the Driver that is already installed and DON'T follow
the ndiswrapper route.

You will need to download the firmware from another computer or connection, if it's
Broadcom Hardware. (If it's not Broadcom post back with the output of the
first instructions output.) We will go from there. The HOWTO: will lead you through
the process. Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes.

Let me know how it goes. Worked fine on my Compaq V5201US, and another
Compaq Laptop.

Not very helpful or directly related to the OP - but close: I have clean-installed 11.04 from the CD onto my Presario V5000 (5102TU) and had nothing to do re: wi-fi - it worked out of the box (as did pretty much everything else). Most impressed. ;-)

Thank you very much guys for your reply.

I wasn't able to try out any of your suggestion due to a very busy week. Will try them tomorrow and will reply back.

I really appreciate your help.

Alex
