Wouldn't know what I was doing with American football. Anyone know if there is an Ubuntu fantasy Premier league?

For some reason, I feel compelled to post this whenever what Americans refer to as "football" is mentioned.

Classic and true.
The title of the thread should the changed to "ubuntu fantasy handegg league", just to avoid confusion.

I tired this last season and we did not get above 8 teams... I will join and I hope we get more than 8 teams.

8 teams would do it, but 10 would be nice.

I'm in.

And I do believe the whole 'american football, football, futbol, soccer' thing is a little overdone. as Devil's Advocate, i would say, an american football is not truly egg shaped. its ovoid, but too pointy. And why isn't rugby called handegg? after all, a rugby ball is more like a chicken egg than an american football. Or for that matter, some reptile eggs (e.g. sea turtles) have spherical eggs, so a soccer ball (football ball) could just as easily be called footegg. just saying.

And why isn't rugby called handegg?

Because not all sports have to be named after an appendage and a shape. Those that are, however, should be named after the appendage and shape they're primarily played with.

Which is why the sport referred to as "football" in the USA should really be called "colonial rugby".

I subscribed to this thread and will fill out the league if you need an extra (final) team.

Cool, I joined, my team name is Arch Linux (no, I can't be creative at all with team names, unfortunately). I just picked the first thing that popped into my head of something I liked, that fit well with a Linux forum :P

I'll join you guys. I don't play fantasy football much so I'll probably just have a bunch of homer/random picks :P

as long as your able to set your lineups weekly. sometimes random picks are the best ones.
