Finally, what everyone's been waiting for!
I've successfully gotten Ubuntu to run from the Steam client!
It wasn't even very hard, really. I'm beginning to wonder what the big deal was.

Most excellent. How did you come about the solution to this good sir?

It was really simple. You just add it like it's a game. I don't know why people have been whining for so long about Steam and Ubuntu not working together.

Frankly, I don't see much advantage in running Ubuntu through Steam, but from what I've read, it's a big issue.

Wow, I can't believe nobody ever thought of that before, all this time waiting and hoping for Valve to do it, and the solution was this simple! Amazing!

Could anyone be kind enough to explain me what does this mean?

I know Steam run on Windows. Is this an easier way to run Windows games on Linux?

I appreciate your responses,
Regards.

Just curious, why would anyone want to do this? What's the advantage?

I'm not entirely sure. I just kept seeing threads about Steam not working with Linux. I tested it out and they seem to work together perfectly.

What? People want to run the steam client on Linux, not Linux on Steam.

Ok, I'm now assuming this was all a joke.

People wanted to be able to run Steam and Linux together. I figured out how to do it. What's the problem?

Of course it's a joke :-)

Also, porting Steam to Ubuntu is pointless unless they actually port some big-name games too. Who would use Steam if it just had Extreme TuxRacer and Sauerbraten?

No problem. It's not very funny...

Of course it's a joke :-)

I had to consider the possibility someone could actually make a mistake like that ;)

Either I am going crazy or a thread clean-up occurred, either way I approve :KS

True. But they still can't say that Steam works natively with Linux. ;)

Whether Steam runs on Linux or not... I don't see why it matters if over 90 percent of the games around are for Windows... Don't even get around mentioning running them in WINE etc, no natively-running games = no-go

But what about all of those platinum-rated games on the Wine AppDB that need 20 minutes of fixing to run correctly?!

Not all wine versions are created equal. :)

That's what I've been trying to tell people for years. We don't need them to port a game download client to Linux; we need them to port their game engines to Linux. ;)

Just not worth getting steamed up over.

Maybe you should turn a Valve on one of Steam's pipes.
