Read/Write on FTP

Hi there,

I use Places>Connect to Server... to access my website's FTP. This allows me to open the FTP site from my desktop, and I can copy files to and from and delete files, but if I double-click on a file, it does open in gedit and Open Office, but it is read only.

I have to copy the file to my desktop. Edit it. Then copy it back to my FTP site. I would really like to be able to edit in place. Is there a way to make the file read/write when I double-click on it in the FTP folder?
