We have a friend who has no internet connection and I am intending to install ubuntu on

her PC so i need a way to install updates for her. I believe I should be able to download

them using my machine and putting them on CD or DVD. What I would like to to do is stop

the updater from running automatically and have some means of knowing what to download.

I believe it relies on the /etc/apt repositories to look for updates but am not sure.

Can I alter what is in there and just give it access to the DVD drive?

Or do I need to do more?

tia

i actually posted that earlier but then asked mods to remove my link because it seems was last updated in 2007, if you click on download latest it says the project has no files.

i wasnt sure how upto date it was ?

Hmm. That's a good point. I don't know if that would work with the newer Ubuntu versions, since I haven't used it myself.

Thanks for spotting that and pointing it out haqking. I was not aware of this and will no longer recommend this project; pity really as I think it is a great idea.
