View Full Version : [ubuntu] upgrading to stable ubuntu linux

I have a dual boot xp and ubuntu8.10 system.
since there are problems with ubuntu8.10 like i can"t update and even internet not working. I want to install a higher version of ubuntu without disturbing XP partitions.
I want to delete ubuntu8.10 .
Can anybody please help me in detail how to do it safely.

if 8.10 is a standard installation, like this one:

then your data/settings are into the safe /home partition. Simply format the root (/) to erase 8.10 (the swap partition can be used again for the new installation)
