How do I change the grease spot of an icon that is the new google chrome logo? And where is chrome installed anyway?

For some reason, it says I don't have permission, even though i'm the owner account. I just uninstalled chrome, redownloaded it, and extracted it to a user folder, and sytematically rooted out all the icons and replaced them with versions I downloaded and scaled. :)
