ubuntu minimal on Dell D505

Hi to all

I have an old Dell D505 that up until yesterday was running perfectly well the Debian 5. Yesterday i decided that it is time to upgrade it to debian 6 but after upgrading it didn't boot. I think the problem was with the graphic card drivers. So i thought i will give a try in ubuntu minimal 10.04 with openbox. The installation went very well but just when i installed gdm and openbox the system is unable to boot again. I managed to uninstall gdm and now i'm trying to figure out a way to have a light window manager/desktop environment. Any ideas are welcomed.

Still stragling here. I have now xorg and openbox installed but still cant manage to make it work. startx gives a black screen. Here is my xorg.conf.
