Hi everyone,

I have windows 7 x64, and i want to install ubuntu x64 along windows 7.
what i did:
1) download/burn on cd the iso from the official site(disk verified successfully)
2) run the cd> install alongside windows 7
3) on my computer i got 2 hard disks: 80gb for win7 and 250gb for my files, and from 250gb hdd i formatted 2 partitions (70gb- for system(ext4), 4gb - swap memory)
4) installation was going ok till a crash happens...
crash description: video turns off, system stops to work, but the cd is still rotating some seconds(which means ots not from cd), then after 15 sec when i see that the system is idle i press then little "restart button", system restars, but without video and with annoying sound about 3-4 seconds then sielence. after 30 sec i see no reaction and press the turn off button.

tried about 4 times, with different cds.

computer info:
win 7 x64, 4gb ram, 512mb video,(mby its because of 3d accelerator...);

now im on ubuntu installed in windows 7(like a win 7 soft) but its a bit slow.

I appreciate your time, sorry for such long problem description. thx!

one suggestion:

instead of giving it 15 seconds; give it a few minutes.

durning the install process the screen can go blank and it will look like nothing is happening, but it is.

you did try without installing first?

You don't say which version of Ubuntu you are trying to install.

If you are installing 11.04 try 10.04 or 10.10

Is there a reason to install 64 bit software, if not stick to 32 bit?

You could try the "Alternative install (http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/alternative-download)".
