How do I perform a clean install of Ubuntu on a former Windows laptop?
I want to wipe the disk of Windows and install Ubuntu only.
Thanks!

The Ubuntu installer has a "use entire disk" option.

Oops.
I forgot to say that the machine will not have Windows on it. Windows has crashed and is unrecoverable. So I will need to reformat the drive first.
So I guess the question is, can Ubuntu install without Windows loaded? If so, how?
Thanks!

Ubuntu doesn't care what, if anything, is on the hard disk. Just boot the LiveCD and run the install with 'use entire disk' as others have said.
