Will Ubuntu Detect

I know that Ubuntu will detect other installations of Ubuntu and allow you to install itself alongside it. Will it do this for other version of Linux?

Yes it will. After you install, if 'update-grub' doesn't detect the other distros you can post on the forums and someone will probably know how to get it into your menu.
