I have Ubuntu dual booted on the laptop I'm on, with Windows 7. I'm currently running 10.10. Is it safe to update Ubuntu to the latest version, despite it being on a dual boot? I'm not sure how it would work, but I imagine it'd be fine...I just wanted to double check first. Thanks!

Download the Ubuntu 11.04 liveCD/liveUSB and test it. That will help confirm if you have any issues. You will need liveCd to make repairs anyway.

If you have not made a backup of windows and all your important data do that first also.

Make a Windows repairCD.
Make your own Windows recoveryCD/repair:

I used to do upgrades in place and almost every time had minor (major to a new user which I was the first time or two) issues that required fixes using liveCD or command line boot. I then converted to clean installs but install to a new (root) partition so I can go back if need be. But you have to have room on your hard drive for another 20GB to test a new root install.
