View Full Version : [ubuntu] Routing by URL

My network is front ended by a rather ordinary router that can easily grab, for example, all port 80 inbound traffic and send it to a specific local IP address.

But I would like to run multiple Web servers on different machines so I need some sort of software that can reprocess all that port 80 traffic and resend it based on the URL.

One option, I think, is a web server with a lot of redirection logic.

But I'd really like to find some sort of software router that uses URLs rather than IP addresses to send the packets to the correct destination.

Anybody heard of such a thing? Ubuntu Server seems like a perfect place to but that.:)
