metacity static icons for alt-tab with compositing on?

I have metacity set as my compositing manager, and as a result when I alt-tab, it shows window thumbnails instead of just icons. How can I have it show just static icons and also have the compositing still be on? Thanks.

i think we must change somethings in metacity source code and recompile it. but how???
