So I just installed Ubuntu on my brand new laptop and installed Gnome 3 through the official ppa (Gnome 3 is GREAT!).

I also have installed gnome-themes and the others related packages, but there is something that is bothering me:

The menu bar, for example on Terminal, is in a dark colour (or the tab bar on the Firefox too), but the title bar is white (Gnome standard). How can I change this colour and make everything white (Gnome standard)?

Another thing:

The menu where I choose the network is not the Gnome standard either, like the sound or the "me" menu, which is like a dialog box (you know what I mean). How can I make everything looks like Gnome standard (like in Fedora)?

Thanks!:p

It is still a little difficult to change/adjust appearances on Gnome Shell installed by ppa in Ubuntu 11.04. Fedora 15 has Gnome Shell by default and is a more complete experience at the moment.

However, the good news is that in October when Oneiric Ocelot 11.10 is released, Gnome Shell will be easily installed via the Software Centre. It will become easy to alter and customize as people create different colour themes and 'extensions' for it.

At the moment it is possible to make some changes but they might be prone to problems! To do this you will need to download a tool called Gnome Tweak Tool. Also you can try to install some of the 'shell extensions'. Have a look at:

Very well, I'll wait to see what's on next release.

Installing the gnome-tweak-tool I could, at least, change the colour of the menu bar, changing the Gtk+ Theme from Ambience to Radiance. That's nice by now.

Thank's for the reply!
