I'm a complete noob so here goes (re xubuntu 10.04):
On 7/29/11 an update icon appeared, three updates. The third was linux-image-2.6.32.33-generic. The "description" had this ominous warning: "You likely don't want to install this package directly. Instead, install the linux-generic meta-package, which will ensure that upgrades work correctly and that supporting packages are also installed".
Synaptic shows that very package already installed, with a small yellow star inside the green box, but there's no "linux-generic meta-package" to be found. What gives? What, exactly, am I supposed to do, or NOT do?
Thanks in advance.
