Hi,

I installed the ATI catalyst(driver) tool on my Ubuntu 11.04 which runs on the following

AMD phenom ii x4 955BE
AMD Radeon 6850
Gigabyte 880GM_USB3

After installing the drivers i downlaoded compiz manager, but when i turn on the effects, the taskbar on the top goes blur and PC hags for sometime.

I am starting to doubt the driver and as the history says ATI was never good in Linux drivers as compared to Nvidia.

Can anyone provide me a stable driver through which i can enable compiz to its full potential?

Hi, there is a method setting up compiz in natty. You probably need to reset unity, you can do that by clicking reset unity and compiz in my signature then just reset unity.

This guide is for effect and the cube in natty.

Also you can run these commands in a terminal and we can see what is going on.

lsmod

sudo lshw
and post the outcome here by clicking on new reply and click # and paste the information between the brackets.
