I was having a look here:
http://www.unixmen.com/software/1832-lightweight-portable-security-lps-a-linux-disto-from-the-us-department-of-defense
and this image in particular caught my attention....
http://cdn.unixmen.com/images/stories/linux/distros/LPS/Selection_052.png
And I am wondering if thats something they have made themselves, and/or if it would possible to get that working under Ubuntu or even gpg under windows...
I use encryption on a day to day basis under Ubuntu.... and this would be a utility that looks like it'd be simple enough to give to joe average to use..... for encryption..... hmm wonder if it does folders
