View Full Version : [ubuntu] Python2.4 problems, Ubuntu 10.04

I am trying to install the prerequisites for Zenoss.

Python2.4 refuses install under Ubuntu server 10.04 LTS. I get this same error over and over.

"Reading package lists...Done"
"Building dependency tree"
"Reading state information...Done"
"Couldn't find package python2.4"

I have tried wget, and then dpkg -i from multiple sources...

I have tried http://www.peterbe.com/plog/upgrading-ubuntu-lucid-lynx-downgrading-python2.4-python2.5

But I still get the same error "Couldn't find package python2.4"

I have gotten the drift that changes were made from karmic to lucid that have altered the standard version of python that comes with the OS.

Hilariously enough the third party book on Zenoss that I have doesn't cover the installation. The Zenoss documentation for installing .deb packages doesn't cover my issue. I feel like i'm being hazed by an operating system...

Can someone tell me what i'm missing? Maybe this is to big a jump for someone new to this OS, but if i can't find a way to make python2.4 work, I don't know whow I'm suppose to make the rest of this work.
