I think we should have a forum for users of free / open software on non-Un*x OS's but here is my question:

Is there a WinXP program I can download anywhere that can find some of the files I have eraced off of my HDD or USB Flash Drive?

Thanks, I'm useing it now.

I still think we should have a forum for Windows users of Free Software. If a Windows user was having trouble with OOo or Firefox or whatever he could come ask about it here. Then he might wonder what Ubuntu is and switch to it.

This be a Linux forum. Most of the good people here only use Linux. Your questons could be much better answered using the neowin forums, or even a windows forum.
Its possible that one would be made, but i doubt its usefulness

no offense, but i do not that that is a good idea. this is a gnu/linux ubuntu forum, not a run free software on windows forum. i am sure there are forums like that on the web, i would encourage you to do a google search for them. encourage the mods of a prominent windows forum to add a free software section. given the HUGE userbase of windows, i would imagine the online windows forum community to be the size of several small nations and eager to build a vibrant and thriving community. i would suggest a google search for that. however, i will state again, we are the official ubuntu gnu/linux forums. we do not support or encourage windows use here.

I like the idea of a forum that helps WinDOWS (note, I did not say BLOWS or DOZE) users use open source software-- just not on these forums. This is a forum for help with the Ubuntu distribution, and things related to it. If we make a forum for using OSS on Windows, we might as well make an Adobe support forum-- not really related. I think community chat is a good place to ask simple questions like the one you did, BFW, and get an answer from people who may or may not still use Windows, but a new forum section is just counter-intuitive.

PC File Inspector might work!
