View Full Version : [SOLVED] Getting Strange Desktop on Startup

Hi, I just Installed Ubuntu from WUBI, and decided to run Update manager..
The Updates were installed and after that i installed some softwares including Ubuntu Tweak..

Now I cant get the basic Ubuntu desktop...
Also i cant get into the Terminal Window
No way to access any applications.

tried all the available options at the Grub menu, also at the login menu for the user, still get the same desktop.
Please Help...

is that Natty ..........
besides try rebooting again in failsafeX mode and from there start the terminal
and try and undo the changes u made in ubuntu tweak

i am new to Ubuntu, please tell me what is Failsafe X mode...
How should i redo the changes if u know...

awrigh u can do this
reboot and when u get the boot options enter recovery mode in the recovery mode u'll get various options one of them will be the failsafeX mode, enter
u'll get the classic ubuntu look
after which u can open compiz manager goto preferences and change profile from default to unity
.............
and reboot
does that help????
if not ther are other ways

oh found out, it can be reset using
"unity --reset" command
