Hello,

I am a new user and I'm experiencing many issues installing 11.04 from the Wubi USB method, I am using windows Vista to install on a hp simple save EHD(willing to install on main hard drive.

My errors include:
#1 when opening Wubi USB .EXE in My computer I receive this:
"There is no disk in drive. Please insert a disk into drive \device\harddisk3\DR3" When I hit try again it goes through harddisk 3-6. after spamming try again for a bit it goes through to the exe

#2 after installing it the 1st time a received the black screen and reboot on starting Ubuntu issue.(after updating graphics card I got the rebooting at start up)

#3 after deleting the partition and the Ubuntu folder from the EHD I attempted to re install and it came up with error: a previous installation was detected in R:Ubuntu please uninstall(which i had deleted and could find no part of remaining).

please help I would like to try this OS for I am interested in learning to program. If you reply please keep in mind I am not to familiar with the tech at the moment.

thank you

How did you install Ubuntu the second time, into Windows or into a seperate partition? And did you install the bootloader into the root partition? If yes, then thats the reason why you cant't see it in the MBR.

Its sad that i cant remember, Ill have to check windows to see if i downloaded it to another partition,

though this is the info I gathered in the test mode with a set of steps from another site

I used the iso CD install andI did not find a partition in the c drive but the only folderI saw with ubuntu info in it was c:ubuntu/install and C:ubuntu/winboot. I don't know how it would be possible to go through the entire cd setup and not get it installed, there must be something I'm not understanding.

if you want a real experience, then make a real install:

it seems that the installer was automatically butting the boot loader on my external hard drive and the main install on my C: i re installed with the external hard dive unplugged and it worked just fine
