"CodePlex is an online software development environment for open and shared source developers to create, host and manage projects throughout the project lifecycle. It has been written from the ground up in C# using .NET 2.0 technology with Team Foundation Server on the back end. CodePlex is open to the public free of charge."

It looks somewhat nice, but I doubt its nearly as featureful as Sourceforge is.

Started by Microsoft. I wonder what they are up to?

Conspiracy theories starting... ;)

I find this hilarious notion even more so hilarious based on the fact that MSFTs recent open stance on Open Source software is Unreliable and Unstable.

http://news.com.com/Microsoft+Open+source+not+reliable+or+dependable/2100-7344_3-6074237.html?tag=nefd.top

So if Open Source software is so unstable, why tarry a project to support it?

Sounds to me like MSFTs left and isnt talking to its right hand again.

I don't think anyone looking to the bottom of that page [2006 Microsoft] will upload code there. At least not without an attorney present at all times ;)

Even more so when you notice the version number, Version 0.0.0.1504

Not good [-(

I dont think thats for charing source...

It looks more like a place where you can give feedback on the software uploaded and colaborate as a group (without "outsiders" medling).

This will probably bee SourceForge for MS Users while SF will still be around for *nix programmers (of CodePlex is realy about Open Source)

Remember that MS has the "Shared Source" initiative too.

Microsoft hates open source yet they make an open source site? What a bad idea. And about the version number, more like alpha...

One genuine alternative to SourceForge might be savannah.nongnu.org.
