I've been scouring the web a bit for this, but I'm looking for a Linux tool similar to Wink (http://www.debugmode.com/wink/) that allows me to record my desktop as a Flash movie (including the cursor).
At a pinch, I could accept recording to png images, but Flash is my nominal first choice.
Edit: Well, duh. Last time I needed Wink it was Windows only, which no longer seems to be the case. Alternatives still appreciated.

I'm not a big fan of Flash. Used to be a big user of Flash (as in developer) when I was a Windows user, but honestly, it's a proprietary format which requires a closed-source, centrally developed plugin. Don't use it.
Instead, use the excellent app called Byzanz which records to GIF images; it doesn't even require extra applications, can be viewed right away in the browser!
This page has a lot of Byzanz examples (whenever there is a movie sign icon or whatever they're called):

If i can ask a rather dumb question, how do you start Byzanz? I installed the package, and it was nowhere in the menu. Then i typed "byzanz" in the terminal, but nothing happens?

Add the Byzanz applet to your panel. Then just click it to start recording.
Edit: ...presuming you're a Gnome user. If you're using KDE or something else, then I don't know =/

Ahh, it's an applet rather than a program. How was i supposed to know that? :)
All i get from using this "desktop recorder" is a ~10MB GIF-file. How do i get some sort of movie out of it?
I'm on Xgl/Compiz, and the cube can't spin around when using this thing.. Hmm..

View the gif in a browser (drag and drop).
Note: lots of detailed images and big resolutions isn't a good idea if you're dealing with GIF.

Ahh, thanks. I'll try that.

Yeah, the quality leaves something to be desired, to say the least  Why if GIF used when PNG is supposed to be the next generation format?

AFAIK png doesn't support animation (yet? I think there's some development on that one...)
