View Full Version : [ubuntu] Installation program freezes before 3rd page

As the title says, when I launch the installer off LiveCD and hit "next" twice it becomes totally unresponsive. I can move my mouse and such, it's just the installation window that's frozen. Perhaps someone could tell me what this page normally looks like, so I could self-diagnose?
I've tried both Ubuntu 11.04 and Xbuntu off a USB (dead CD drive)

Thanks all

Welcome to UF.
Have you checked the md5sum of the downloaded iso file?
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM

You should also check the cd/usb for defects. At the first purple screen press any key, then choose your language then on the next screen select the check for defects option.
One error is too many and the cd should be burned again using the slowest possible settings.

Quackers, I'm running this off USB and tried Xbuntu and Ubuntu. I can try another stick.

The OS works perfectly itself running off the USB, it's only the installer that causes issues.

It's possible it could still be a bad download or a bad burn (or even a bad read). Both methods above should be tried to check.
