I'm about to instantiate a new EC2 instance on amazon and want to be sure that my system checks the signatures on all packages that it installs.

I've been reading this debian article (http://wiki.debian.org/SecureApt) which is helpful but quite old and targetted at Debian and also this Ubuntu article (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SecureApt) which seems short on details and doesn't tell me a) where to find ubuntu's keys and b) whether I need to actually install a different version of apt.

Can anyone point me to a good tutorial to get me started? I want to be sure that my system is as secure as I can possibly make it.

The second article I linked is the first search result in your search engine. This post in which we are communicating is the third result. The second result is the man page for apt-secure (which I've been reading). I was rather hoping for a series of steps for locking down my apt package management. Any idea where that might be found?
