What apps do you use?

Wine works (sort of) and there are many Linux counterparts to Windows programs ... unless you're talking about Adobe software (in which case they work better on the Mac) or CAD ... with CAD I think you're just SOL and stuck with winblows.

i agree. unless you are a hardcore gamer, then you have a good shot at finding replacement apps for your windows software. make a list of things you can't live without and we might be able to help. wine might help for some of your "must have" programs as well.

I run the full Adobe Creative Suite as well as Macromedia Studio MX 2004 in vmware on my Linux box.

There are *many* CAD programs for Linux - here is a quick little list (http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue54/frost.html) with screenshots and descriptions.

The thing is we use specalised software. I am not aware of any linux alternatives.
If anyone knows of a patient management system than runs on linux please let me know.

There are windows emulator for Linux, vmware, wont just emulate some Apps like wine, it emulates the Whole operating system [windows/full screen] . Meaning anything u would need on windows u can do it thru Linux>XP. Its like cheating Redmond lol.

Or if you want a free alternative to vmware, checkout qemu (http://fabrice.bellard.free.fr/qemu/)

That's the one I'm testing out now. It sounds very promising. :)

Step away from the computer.

Breathe. Step back - see? It's just a thing.

Breathe again one time for me now...

Gooooooood.

You know why it's sucking so much... System Recovery!!!!
Turn all that buggy, memory hogging, not helping crap from that system...
Remember if windows messes up, format... It's the only way to fix anything in that operating system. Not to make windows sound good or anything.
