I just build a computer the other day and installed Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04.

When I boot up it comes to a purple screen with white lines on the sides. I wait a while and it boots Ubuntu. I took a guess that it was GRUB and when I rebooted and came to the same screen I blindly scrolled down about to 4 option to see if I could find Windows and it worked.

My question is how can I fix the GRUB to show the menu properly?

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

Changing the timeout and/or the menu entry order should be no problem.

Use the tutorial here to find out how:

Thanks, it's nice to be here.

I was playing around with the appearance and colours settings in GRUB customizer, I can now see the GRUB loader(part of it) and now Ubuntu won't boot. This will be a fun day.
